Overview
Suggested Capacity are recommendations to post specific trucks that the system believes are available soon. These suggestions are not visible to brokers until you review and choose to post them.
TFX may surface suggested trucks based on information such as your recent activity, verified lane history, ELD data, equipment, preferences, and other operating signals.
Suggested Capacity is intended to make it easier to keep your available trucks visible to brokers without starting from scratch each time.
Where You May See Suggested Capacity
Suggested Capacity appears as a separate tab on the “Post Capacity” screen on a web browser and in the Highway mobile app.
You can review the suggestion before deciding whether to use it. If the suggestion is accurate, continue to post it. If it does not match your current operation, you can ignore it or adjust the details and then post.
How Suggested Capacity Works
When you deliver a load, Highway automatically predicts when and where that truck will be available next and creates a pre-filled capacity suggestion for your review.
After you pick up and complete a load, Highway:
• Identifies where the truck is delivering
• Predicts when it will likely be available next
• Creates a Suggested Capacity post with pre-filled details
Each suggestion includes equipment type, expected availability date, location, and Vehicle ID (required). You do not need to re-enter information Highway already has.
Review the Suggestion
Open the Suggested Capacity item and review the available truck, equipment, origin, destination when applicable, and available date.
Confirm or Update the Details
Suggested Capacity is based on signals available to TFX, but your current operation may have changed. Driver rest times, HOS and other factors should be taken into consideration when posting suggested capacity.
Review the truck information and update any details that no longer match your availability before posting.
Post the Capacity
When the details are correct, post the suggestion to turn it into normal posted capacity.
From the Post Capacity page, you can post one suggestion at a time or post multiple suggestions together.
You may also receive notifications when a new suggestion is available.
Once posted, brokers can discover the available equipment through TFX just like other capacity you post manually.
For full instructions on posting and managing available trucks, see Post Capacity on TFX.
Keep Your Availability Current
If the truck is no longer available, update or remove the capacity post.
Keeping capacity current helps brokers see accurate availability and gives TFX better information about your operation for future matching and recommendations. When a posted capacity period is finished, you can review the previous details, update anything that changed, and post the vehicle again.
Why Suggested Capacity Helps
Suggested Capacity can help keep your available equipment visible to brokers on lanes that align with your operation. Posted vehicles may be prioritized when brokers search for appropriate carriers for new freight, which can improve your chances of being considered for relevant opportunities.
It can also support better lane planning by helping you identify opportunities around where your trucks are expected to be available. That can make it easier to plan load backs and reduce empty transit between loads.
Suggested Capacity also reduces the amount of information you need to enter when TFX already has signals that a truck may be available.
The more you use TFX, the more information the platform has about your lanes, equipment, availability, and freight activity. That can help future Suggested Capacity and Recommended Loads become more relevant to your operation.
Automatic Posting
If automatic posting is available for your carrier account, it can help post eligible capacity automatically based on available suggestions. To select auto posting of your suggested capacity, click on the “Post Capacity” menu button and then navigate to the ‘Suggested’ tab. Toggle on the auto posting feature.
Continue to keep your truck availability accurate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Suggested Capacity already visible to brokers?
No. Suggested Capacity is a recommendation until you review and post it. Once posted, it becomes a normal capacity posting that brokers can discover.
Do I have to use a Suggested Capacity recommendation?
No. Review the suggestion and use it only if it matches your current truck availability.
Can I change the suggested information before posting?
Yes. Review the suggestion and update the details that need to change before you post the truck.
What happens after I post a suggestion?
The suggestion becomes a normal capacity post. TFX brokers can then see the available equipment, and relevant brokers may be notified when the posted capacity matches their freight needs.
What if the truck is no longer available?
Do not post the suggestion if the truck is no longer available. If you already posted it, update or remove the capacity so brokers see your current availability.
Does Suggested Capacity improve over time?
TFX can use your activity and operating patterns to make future suggestions more relevant. Keeping capacity current, reviewing loads, and completing freight activity gives TFX more information about your operation.
Is Suggested Capacity the same as Recommended Loads?
No. Suggested Capacity recommends trucks you may want to post. Recommended Loads surfaces freight opportunities that may be relevant to your operation.
For more about Recommended Loads and finding freight, see Find and Book Loads on the Trusted Freight Exchange (TFX).
